InnovaCare Health, which delivers managed healthcare solutions with Medicare and Medicare Advantage plans, is led by President and Chief Executive Officer Dr. Rick Shinto. He is also the CEO of MMM Healthcare, which offers a Medicare advantage plan to Puerto Rican Medicare recipients.
After graduating from the State University of New York at Stony Brook with a medical degree and the University of Redlands with an M.B.A. degree, Shinto worked as an internist and pulmonologist. He also served as the CEO of Aveta Inc. and the CMO of NAMM California, Medical Pathways Management Company and Cal Optima Health Plan. InnovaCare Health’s leadership team has more than 120 combined years of managed care experience.
Modern Healthcare recently honored Dr. Richard Shinto by including him in their 2018 Top 25 Minority Executives in Healthcare list. Shinto also received the Access to Caring Award from Western University of Health Sciences. He received the award for his dedication to the underserved seniors in Puerto Rico. In 2012, Shinto won the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year award. He won the award for his innovative approach to healthcare and his personal commitment to quality service.
Chief Administrative Officer Penelope Kokkinides assists Shinto at InnovaCare Health. She brings her extensive experience with Medicare and Medicaid, improving efficiencies and implementing health care models to the company. Kokkinides previously worked at Centerlight HealthCare and Touchstone Health where she was the COO at both companies.
InnovaCare Health works with 7,500 providers, incentivizing quality care for 200,000 members and offering mobile clinics and health services sites in retail centers. They offer Puerto Rico’s leading health plans; MMM Healthcare and PMC Medicare Choice. InnovaCare offers the only NCQA-accredited health plans on the island. The company MSO company recently partnered with Orlando Family Physicians to bring the InnovaCare’s services to five counties in Florida.
