Shiraz Boghani, the chairman of the Splendid Hospitality Group, was born in Kenya. In 1969, he left Africa and sought his future in the United Kingdom. Once in England, he studied at the Chartered Accountant, where he learned his trade and gained his qualification as a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Whales. Upon graduation, he received a position at Thomson McLintock &co. was he was able to learn the business acumen that he would use later in life.
In 1985, he co-founded Sussex Health Care Limited, a healthcare company dedicated to offering innovative homes and healthcare services. Since its inception, the company has grown to 18 care homes. This healthcare facility is now capable of servicing the needs of 500 long-term patients. This success brought Shiraz Boghani recognition as a businessman and set him up to engage in his next venture, the Splendid Hotels group. Shiraz leveraged his resources and bought several hotels. It became one of the fastest growing private hotel chains in the United Kingdom. The company now consists of 19 trading hotels. During the 1990s, Boghani pioneered the limited service branded hotels in London. He is also a founding partner of the Sojourn Hotels LLP and continues to serve as its chairman.
Despite his tireless efforts to improve the British hospitality industry, Shiraz Boghani has dedicated his life to service. He is involved in numerous charitable organizations within the Ismaili community such as his leading roles in the National Council, Chairman of the National conciliation and arbitration board, resource director for the Aga Khan University. With such dedication to the welfare of others, it is no wonder that it spilled over into his businesses. The splendid Hotel Group gained a reputation for exceptional service. This led to Shiraz Boghani earning the prestigious 2016 Asian businesses award, which declared him ‘Hotelier of the Year.’ In his acceptance speech, Shiraz Boghani proclaimed that Hotel management dominated his professional life and attributed much of his success to his highly trained hotel managers and experience executive teams. With such dedication to service and customer satisfaction, the hotelier from Kenya’s prospects is only getting brighter.
